  Just a head up. When I planned a bike trip from Buffalo to Albany along the Erie Canal back in 2009, Google did not know anything about the Erie Canal Motel. However, as I was biking along Hwy 31 just west of Lyons, I spotted this nice looking mom & pop on the left side of the road and made a mental note in case I ever came that way again..
  
  Six years later in February of 2015 I'm planning another bike trip. Google maps now show it, but there seems to be no further information about it. An answer in reply to an email to the Lyons Chamber of Commerce said that there were no motels in Lyons.
  
  A telephone call to the motel solved the mystery. It is closed during the Winter while the owner escapes to Florida (can't blame him for that). He said they are open during the Summer. Since I will be traveling during July or August, I didn't bother asking the exact dates it will be open.
